Whew!! My last "Murder On The Last Train To Paris" class is over & hopefully life will slow down a little now. Here's a glimpse of the class this weekend:
We used over 100 stamp images. Can you imagine cleaning all of those stamps??
Each student received three bags of class kits, with the pages individually bagged & labelled.
That's Carmen. Look how fast her hands are flying!!
Dianna with both hands on her stamp for proper placement. That's my girl!!
Sandy was concentrating so hard, she never noticed the camera.
Louise was the first to solve the mystery!
Maripat even brought a bag, packed for Paris.
Unfortunately, I don't have photos of my other three fantastic students -- Beth, Ellen & Lois. I wish I did because I would love to do a layout of this class. Teaching is such a part of my life now, that I'd like to document it to show my daughter in the years to come. When I was a kid, my mom decorated cakes as a side-job. The cakes were beautiful and it was such a part of our family life that when I look back at those old pictures, I can still smell the powdered sugar. I hated cleaning up the mess after one of her cakes -- the icing bags, the decorating tips, the wet towels over icing. Ugh. I'm sure my daughter will grow up amid scraps of paper and jewelry bags of die cut letters. She'll cringe everytime she steps on a rogue eyelet and sigh everytime she has to help bag up my kits. Yes.... this definitely deserves a layout. Now that I think about it, so do my mom's cakes. I wonder if I can come up with enough pictures?...
Back to the class...
My students were fantastic and gracious and we all had a marvelous time. However, this class wouldn't have come to fruition without the help of my friends Jenny & Suni. I needed a large space to hold the class & my friend Jenny came to my rescue by offering her basement (which, by the way, is bigger than two floors of my house). She also watched my daughter all day on Sunday, while I taught class. I think she was more exhausted than I was.
And Suni.... what would I do without Suni. She taught her ass off. After my husband's surgery in October, I had to reschedule my classes. I offered my students their choice of two dates. Somehow I ended up with two students in November and ten (YES, TEN) in January. Suni offered to help. I'm sure she's regretting it now. She did as much work as I did for this class and I will never be able to thank her enough. Suni, you, not me, are the rock star here.
Officially, I'm retiring the Last Train class (and not in the Michael Jordan, it'll be back in a year way). I hope my students cherish their books as much as I do. They certainly worked hard on them!!
