Two For Tuesday: Holiday Movie Quote Cards & Scrabble Tile Ornaments

The first day of December is tomorrow!!  My tree is decorated & my halls are decked already!  Now... on to Christmas cards.  I haven't made cards in years.  Right now I'm focusing on spending the holidays with my girls while the magic is real, rather than slaving away watercoloring 100 cards.  That being said, I do appreciate a handmade card.  Maybe I'll have someone else make them for me this year. 

Here is a cute Christmas card that caught my eye:

1.  Holiday Movie Quote Cards by LaBelleVieDesign on Etsy:  I'm a huuuuuge "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" fan.  I saw this card & cracked up.  I think this would bring the right amount of holiday cheer to my friends.  Check it out here & while you're there, check out her other great cards. 

 
2.  Scrabble Tile Ornaments.  My friend Jennie G. passed this link on to me and I gasped when I opened it.  What a great idea!!  I am all about making these this weekend!   Click on the link and see how easy it is to make them yourself.

Finish It Friday: 25 Days of December 2008 - Days 22 & 23

I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel....

 
I chose to work on my 2008 "25 Days of December" album for this week's "Finish It Friday".  I'm so close to being finished with this project that I may just push on through the weekend and finish it by Sunday!  Today I was able to finish up Days 22 & 23:

I've been fortunate that I took a ton of pictures during the holiday season of 2008.  It has made it incredibly easy to document our annual traditions and show exactly what we did during those 25 days.  I tried to take a photo of our Christmas card tree every evening before we went to bed.  I certainly don't need to scrap all 25 days, but it sure made it easy when I went looking for photos to show different stages of fullness.

Now, two more days left to do & they are big ones --  Christmas Eve (which is huge in our house) and Christmas Day.  These will probably both have multiple pages.  And now that I'm so close to completion, I'm once again excited to work on it!
 
 
 

Finish It Friday: 25 Days of December 2008 (Day 21)

It's been a busy week around here, so I haven't done much in the way of catching up in old projects.  However, I have one more page to add to my 25 Days of December book from 2008.  Local gals will get a kick out of my whining about no snow.  Fortunately, I had done the journaling before we got hit with so much snow this year.  I would have had a completely different perspective if I had to write about it now!

 
I didn't have any photos to go with the theme of "no snow", so I did a little research using Google & came up with the weather report for that day.  Thank you Google Images!!

I love that Martha Stewart icicles punch.  I finally had a reason to use it!!  Hopefully I'll have some spare time this weekend to wrap up this book.  Only 4 days left to document!  Woo hoo!  I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
 

Finish It Friday: 25 Days of December 2008 (Days 16 - 20)

This book is going to be the death of me.  However, I am feeling compelled to finish it so that I can cross JUST ONE THING off of my "Unfinished Projects" list.  I'm almost done!

 

Day 16:  I used jump rings to attach a swing out page.  The photos are of our old Christmas LPs (inherited from hubby's grandmother) and our record player.

Day 17:  I'm at the point now where some of these pages need to be plain & simple.  Otherwise they'll never get done.  One photo and some journaling.  Done.

 
Day 18:  It is easy to find DVD and music CD images on the internet.  Here I used the DVD front for the movie "Elf".  I trimmed it to fit on a clear CD (it came on top of a pile of blank DVD-Rs I had purchased).  I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch holes in the disc & placed it as a page in my book.

 
Day 19:  I used an old Jolee's Boutique wreath on the back of the CD.  I added a handmade tag. Done!

 

Day 20:  No Christmas would be complete without a picture of my Baby G. screaming hysterically at the sight of Santa.  Good times. 

So, I only need to complete 5 more days & I can check this one off the list!!  It feels good.  I'm thinking of making this a weekly challenge to my readers.  Who's in?? 
 
 
 
 

25 Days of December: Day 15

 

 

 

 

I really wish I had finished this project before I had the baby.  It is hard to capture the feeling of anticipation when the baby is six weeks old and squawking in the background.  It was important to me to include the pregnancy in this album, since it was such a huge part of our December. 

I'm starting to think that I'm not going to finish this album this month.  10 more days of December to go!

25 Days of December: Day 14

 

 

 

 

Christmas traditions are a big deal to me, so I had to cover our annual tradition of the Christmas Horse parade.  I'm fortunate that this has become a tradition for my friends as well.  After the parade, the kids gather at the house for hot chocolate/yummies and some sort of craft. 

There's something special about a small town parade.  People on the sidewalk brave the cold to wave & yell out "Merry Christmas" to the paraders.  I love it!

25 Days of December: Day 13

This two-page spread has a mini album tucked into the pocket of the second page.

  

 

There are only 6 pages in this little mini album (cut using a Sizzix die).  I photoshopped the crab and Santa hat for the front cover because I needed something that screamed "BALTIMORE".

    

  

If you've never seen the Miracle on 34th Street light display in the Hampden neighborhood of Baltimore, make an effort to catch it this year.  It really is quite a sight to see.  There are no corporate sponsorships and no city involvement (other than handling traffic)... just neighbors getting together to celebrate the season.  You gotta love that! 

25 Days of December: Day 12

 

 

I love the fact that I have not bought a single item for this album.  I have a box chock full of Christmas embellishments that never get used (including these old school bottle caps from Lil' Davis Designs).  I flattened the bottle caps down and gave these unused treasures a home (finally!).

25 Days of December: Day 11

I've promised myself that I will finish that pesky 25 Days of December book this month.  Now that I'm NO LONGER PREGNANT (insert happy dance here), I have no excuses.  So, this afternoon while one child attended pre-school and the other slept, I did this:

 

 

 

Day 12 is 90% done, so I'm on my way to being halfway done with this project.  Who knew 25 days could take 4 months to document??
