My friend Carrie and I have been toying with the idea of hosting an East Coast/West Coast (she lives in SoCal and I'm outside Washington D.C.) on-line book club. We haven't quite set the parameters up yet, but drop me a note at [email protected] or leave me a comment here if you'd be interested in joining us.
The books are currently piling up on my nightstand and I thought I'd share what I'm currently reading and what's next in line..
1. Meet Me at the Cupcake Café by Jenny Colgan. I read another Jenny Colgan novel earlier this summer (Little Beach Street Bakery) and loved it, so I thought I'd try another of her books. I just finished this one last week. I found it light and frivolous, which suited my needs. Save it for a summertime read!
2. The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George. I just started this one and even though I am only about 50 pages in, I am besotted. The main character Monsieur Perdu mends broken hearts by selling books from his floating "literary apothecary" barge on the Seine. As I turn the pages, I can almost hear the soundtrack from "Chocolat"
(a must-have if it is not in your collection!) playing in the background. Loving this one!
3. After You by JoJo Moyes. Earlier this year I read Me Before You
and found it to be the kind of book that sticks with you long after you've read it. If you've read it, you'll understand that I occasionally get teary and miss Will Traynor. I was delighted to discover that a sequel to this beloved book was just released and gets great reviews. This one is next up on my reading list!
4. The Girl in the Spider's Web by David Lagercrantz. A couple of summers ago I read the entire Stieg Larsson trilogy. And then I watched all three Swedish movies. By the end I joked that I could speak conversational Swedish. Although Larsson has sadly passed away, another author has picked up the torch and run with it. The latest book is getting rave reviews and I cannot wait to dig into it.
So, tell me, what are you reading?
