I started this post before my winter hiatus. Since it is still freezing cold out here, it is nice to look back and remember warmer days:
Baby G. wanted a surf-themed party for her 8th birthday. Perfect for a summer birthday!
I had hubby build me a chalkboard easel that I could use for this and future parties:
Guests were sent around to the backyard for the party:
Hubby built three mechanical surfboards using springs, PVC pipe and wood. We held surf contests, challenging the kids to stay on their boards and "hang ten":
Using some old scrapbook paper and a Martha Stewart punch, I was able to spruce up my Wilton Cupcake Tower .
I piped brown frosting on half of each cupcake in high swirls and then dusted them with coarse sugar (tinted brown). I filled the rest of the cupcake with aqua frosting in swirls and then added surfboard cupcake toppers.
The kids played beach ball hockey, rode the surf boards and enjoyed the slip & slide all afternoon:
Guest left with their own sand bucket goodie bag:
Per my daughter's request, I have not posted pictures of her at her own party. She was in summer camp the day before her party and came across something in the woods that made one of her eyes swell up to the size of a golf ball. We were in the emergency room TWICE in the 12 hours before her party. My poor baby was miserable, but thrilled to ride the waves at her surf party.
Hang Ten!!
Are you sure you don't want to adopt me? :) That looks like so much fun!!!!!!!!!
