I picked up a couple of deep shadow boxes in the clearance section at Michaels a few years ago & I've finally found a use for them! My youngest daughter was a pacifier-addict until she was three. Call them what you may... pacis, binkies, etc. She called hers "pows". When we finally decided to cut the "pow" habit cold turkey, we boxed up all of her pows and "shipped" them off to her newborn cousin in Arizona. In truth, I just carried the box downstairs and hid it in the storage area of our basement.
I stumbled upon the box a couple of months ago and the sight of that symbol of her babyhood brought me to tears. I wanted to preserve them somehow. So....
I found a picture of her with one of her favorite pows, matted the photo and attached it to the box. I then filled the bottom third of the box with her pows. Now, we're still adding to the box every now and again because we keep stumbling upon these things. Vacuuming the cushions on the couch? Found another one! Flipping the master bedroom mattress? Found two! Uninstalling the car seat for a deep clean? Even more! Now that I no longer need them, the damn things keep multiplying like rabbits.
Now, I'm debating how to use my second shadow box to celebrate my oldest daughter's babyhood. Ideas?
The pow box is beautiful Korie! I felt the pang of baby reminiscing too. I just got to be a new grandmother so I will pass this idea along to my daughter in law.
I'm sure you come up with a good idea for the other box too! Been thinking about you........ L
