I've promised a number of you pics from Baby G's birthday party this summer. Leave it to my kid to want a "Vintage Carnival" themed 5th birthday party. Not Sponge Bob. Not Disney Princesses. "Vintage Carnival". That's my girl!
So, hubby spent most of July building Baby G. her dream carnival. And I designed an invitation that looked like a carnival poster. And then we started decorating. Lots of pink, red & aqua...
The admission booth.
We're planning to use this for our upcoming "backyard movie" nights.
Each invitation included a carnival ticket for each child (click here to make your own).
The kids redeemed them at the admission booth for game tickets to be used on the midway.
The midway.
The "Wheel of Fortune" spinning wheel game.
Our "Spin Art" table.
Hubby made it using the motor from an old fan. Pretty smart, no?
The "Goldfish Toss".
I originally planned to give out real goldfish, but decided that my friends would probably collectively kick my ass after the party, so I went with little plastic fish that squirt water as the prize.
We used the table hubby built for our 4th of July Stinky Pete's gold panning table to create our own duck races.
Hubby re-painted the table red & then used our pool pump and PVC to create a flow of water where the kids could race little rubber ducks.
Clown noses were a popular prize.
A circus tent pinata and popcorn boxes to scoop up all the candy!
Home-made cupcakes (thanks for the clown toppers Auntie Suni!).
The super-cute circus tent cupcake stand came from Oriental Trading.
Cupcake boxes for the party guests to take extra cupcakes home with them!
These were also from Oriental Trading Company.
Whew! Of course, the moment I'm going to scrapbook is when Baby G. dropped her hot dog on the grass and burst into tears. She sobbed saying, "This is the worst party ever". Five years old.
AWESOME!! Will you adopt me please. My birthday is in June and I like vintage anything/everything. Glitter is also nice.

Whoever commented about the "glitter too", I second that request. You should be a professional kids birthday party planner OFFICIALLY. However getting your own together is no small feat and you would have to enlist poor hubby with tools in his SPARE time....hmmm, best not to go professional since you need sleep.
Just loved seeing all the fun. You are an amazing mom, an amazing woman with soooo much energy. Kudos to you and your husband and 5 year old G.
The outburst your daughter had reminded me of taking my son, when he was about 7 ish,
(and who is actually now just newly MARRIED as of SATURDAY!!)
to Disney in FLA, and as soon as we got off the monorail, he burst into tears from exhaustion and over excitement... we had just arrived and he absolutely had a major melt down!
Seriously, your party looked iconic. Wish you were my mom!!

I need to bow down to you and your husband. WOW is an under statement.... Will you plan and host my next birthday? I promise I won't drop my hotdog and cry :)

OK. Looking at this and thinking back at the parties I used to throw for my kids puts me in the "I creatively suck" category. Can I have a do-over?(BTW...I'll turn 5-0 in December if you feel like that month isn't too busy and you want to throw me an extravaganza.)
