I was surfing one of my new favorite message boards (A Million Memories) this morning, when I stumbled upon the Ribbon Ring. Oh dear... I'm just crippled by my need to constantly organize things. My ribbon is all neatly organized in my ribbon boxes.
Here's the idea behind the Ribbon Ring - - Each strand of ribbon is woven through this little plastic thingamabob:
Then you hook all of the thingamabogs on a big ring. I'm drawn to this idea because it looks so pretty in the picture on their website.
I'm just looking for somebody to talk me out of yet another organizing system. Tell me that my ribbons are all different lengths and it would never look that nice. Tell me that I have waaaaaay too much ribbon for this kind of system. Save me from myself....
OK, I read this and had to laugh. As you know, I am usually a ready partner in crime for any and all organization items that come up. But this I think is just too much.
I went to their website and while it looks pretty hanging up, I thought -- what a giant pain. Just think -- you go to a crop and want to bring your ribbons. What do you do? throw them in a bag and let them get wrinkled? I also think you won't be able to see all of your ribbons quite as easily as you do with your box. I enjoy looking in my box and seeing how pretty my ribbons look all lined up.
Then think of the dust they will accumulate hanging out on your wall. And do you really have enough wall space to hang all of your ribbons? Will you cut your ribbons so that they are all perfectly the same size like the picture? Just say no to this item!

Hi. I'm thinking over time they would get dusty too. Who needs one more thing to dust. I'm now using jars for my ribbon and another box for leftovers. Step away from the ribbon rings!! LOL

Step away from the raver inspired organization porn.
It looks like Rainbow Brite hair extensions.

OK, now that you said Rainbow Brite hair extensions I REALLY want it.
Bring up "My Pretty Pony" and I'm buying the whole frickin' line Suni!

Totally agree with Jenny! Step away from the ribbon organizer...it looks like it would be a pain--similar to that ribbon lunchbox thing that is a complete waste of money. Spend your money on some pretty binders or boxes for your Library of Memories class--much better investment.

Okay, here's an enabler response. I saw these same things and thought, "Oh, how cute! How can I do the same thing for cheaper because it's a bit pricey for plastic tabs." Then I thought why can't I use plastic embroidery floss, punch the slots and hang 'em on book rings? Then I thought, why would I bother because that's a lot of work and I already have my ribbon wound up on clothes pins and stored in biscuit jars which is cute too. The ribbon rings are a cute idea but not worth it to me. Plus, I didn't even think about the dust that the others mentioned. Good point.

I store my ribbon like you do - and have tried many storage solutions over the years. I find that the card system works the best of all of them, especially with all the ribbon I have! So no, you don't need a new storage system lol :)

I store my ribbon like you except on a smaller scale. I cut the bookboard 2" by 10" so they will fit into my craft desk. I have been satified with this method; however, I do like the new rings!
