I have a muse that lives in my studio. Her name is Millie and she's a perfect size 16. She's a snarky old woman that whispers in my ear, "Really? You think those colors go together?" or "Huh... I guess that's one way to put a book together." She keeps me company and inspires me to make pretty things. I first met Millie at an antique store in Lucketts, VA. She spoke to me and I knew we'd be friends. Forever.
Some of you might remember Millie from her old days at Artfully Scribed in Herndon, VA. She kept guard in the back room and peddled unique things that I found at flea markets. When the store closed for good, I knew that Millie would have to come home with me. She took up residence in my studio and has made herself right at home.
I've been meaning to make Millie a cool skirt out of tags, or a Basic Grey bustier. Most days, she just wears an apron (naughty girl!) Recently, Millie received an addition to her wardrobe. The wonders of the internet allowed me to stumble upon Joy over at "The Joy Of". I fell in love with her blog and laughed out loud when I saw her Halloween costume. When I asked her where she found the sash, she was unbelievably sweet and sent it to me for Miss Millie to wear. I now present to you Miss Millie:
During her reign, the new Miss Guided plans to wear her tiara proudly and make lots of pretty things. Joy, I was bowled over by your kindness. I love meeting people (even if it just through the internet) that make me want to be a kinder person. (Shut your trap Suni. I can be a nice person.)
Once my Last Train class is over, I'm going to step to the plate and make Millie a new outfit. I'm sure with her new title, she'll have lots of public appearances and will need to have a nice dress.
