I'm preparing for Baby A's fourth (gasp!) birthday party and I figured that this is as good a time as any to finally post pics from her third birthday. At the time, Baby A was obsessed with Disney's classic, Peter Pan. I was surprised how very hard it was to find Peter Pan party supplies. Tinkerbell = easy. Peter Pan = not so much.
However, a crafty mama and a handy daddy can still pull together something amazing...
"Second star to the right, then straight on till morning"... We needed puffy white clouds and silver stars, so we taped a bunch of white balloons together and hung silver stars from the ceiling.
Everyone knows that Tiger Lily's tribe and the Lost Boys have taken turns capturing eachother for many moons, so we needed an encampment. Hubby created a teepee out of poles and a painted tarp. HUGE hit with the kids. I was amazed it didn't topple over when ten of our own "lost boys" piled in.
Of course, Peter would have to come back for his shadow. I begged hubby to let me paint it directly onto the dining room wall. He shut me down, but he did cut one out of posterboard instead.
My friend Melissa custom-made Baby A her very own Wendy dress. She looked absolutely adorable.
Lime green & purple cutlery and napkins. The caddy is from Target (of course...) and I just printed a Peter Pan image and punched it out for the front. I use the same caddy all through the year for playdates & parties. It is extremely easy to dress it up.
Hook's pirate chest. I had planned out a game where the kids would have to race and use the hooks to grab up as many jewels as possible. I was fortunate to have a friend in New Orleans on business the week before her party (Woo hoo! Thanks Uncle Nicky!). Of course, the second they saw that teepee, they didn't want to do anything else.
Inflatable pirate ship ring toss game. We have used this a couple of times for pirate parties in the past. The kids love it. I bought it years ago at Party City.
I encouraged the kids to dress in their jammies, just like Wendy, Michael and John. Kids love to wear jammies in the middle of the day (as do I!) and it only made the party that much more fun.
I'm off to start planning Baby A's Alice in Wonderland party. Pinterest, Etsy and Amazon are going to be the death of me...
Sorry for the delay -- pneumonia, bronchitis, sinus infection, blah, blah, blah. Printable coupon links have been updated for AC Moore, Hobby Lobby and Michaels. You'll find them all under the "Hot Links" section of the left sidebar on my home page. Happy shopping!
Season Three of Downton Abbey is now airing here in the states and I can't get enough of it. In honor of my favorite (or should I say favourite?) show, I've doubled down on my Two For Tuesdays, giving you four Downton Abbey items to drool over this week!
1. Haters Gonna Hate T-Shirt. Who doesn't love a villain? Thomas & O'Brien are so wonderfully awful that I can't help but love them. The scene at the end of Season One where O'Brien discovers how truly terrible she has been is one that I can watch over & over again.
Happy New Year! I've had some requests for additional Nancy Drew Date Book kits for those of you trying to get organized. I had a little time this morning, so I added a couple new books to my Etsy Store:
