With the heat & humidity out here on the East Coast, it is that time of the year where I just want to hide in my studio (down in the deep, dark, cold basement of my house). Here are two projects that have inspired me this week:
(photo from www.babydogstyle.com)
1. Do-It-Yourself Cardboard Chandeliers. I'm thinking I may have hubby make me a handful of these (of course, I want them in wood). I'd love to paint them pink, embellish them with glitter and decorate our room during "Summer in Paris". Want the full "how to"? I found a fantastic website with great photos & directions! Let me know if you decide to make one!
2. Card Table Playhouses. I've had this as a Do-It/Did-It card in my rolodex for forever (I think I got the idea from Amy Powers). This handmade felt playhouse fits perfectly over a card table. I thought it was a genius idea. My girls do have a couple of pop-up playhouses, but this one is so incredibly cute I want it desperately. I wish they made it in my size! How ideal is this for those with limited space in their house?? However, the finished product is $200 on Etsy. WOW! If you're not a cupcake person, she also makes train station, pizza party, pet shop and beauty salon playhouses (she actually has a ton of different styles, click here to check them out!).
I thought it would be a great craft project, but I had no idea where to start. I'm not really a seamstress. I tend to sew paper much more than fabric. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that you can now buy the pattern for this adorable playhouse. You can also buy the pattern for all of the fun stuff that comes with the playhouse. Oh boy! I'm thinking that this will be the perfect project for the Fall, when Baby G. is in school and it is just Baby A. & I at home. I can't wait!
Hope you found something to inspire you!
