Get the most out of Close to My Heart's latest (and arguably cutest) paper kit, Cherry-O, in this workshop. You'll use CTMH's How-To Book as your guide to create (2) two-page layouts.  You'll distress your projects using ink, add embellishments to your pages and learn how to add even more pictures to your pages using CTMH's Flip Flaps.  Students will go home with paper and embellishments to create even more on their own.

Each class kit includes CTMH's Cherry-O Level 2 Paper Pack, Cherry-O MyStickease, and Tulip Mini Medley Embellishments.

Students must bring:  Paper Trimmer, Adhesive, Brown Distressing Ink, Sponge Dauber and Foam Tape (or Foam Squares).

Melissa has kindly offered a 15% discount on the required supplies to students taking her class, if ordered in advance.  Students can order the supplies directly through Melissa (no later than August 15, 2010) at melissa@laverty.net .

Meet the Teacher: Melissa Laverty

I'm thrilled to announce the addition of one more teacher to our stellar 2010 "Summer in Paris" line-up -- Melissa Laverty!

Melissa Laverty, known to her students & blog readers as fancyMelissa, has been teaching papercrafting all over the Blue Ridge Region since 2006.  As a Director with Close to My Heart Scrapbooking & Stamping she enjoys the fellowship that comes from women coming together to create and share their stories.  Because of her artistic skills & fun, relaxed teaching style, she has been selected by CTMH to teach at their National Convention this summer. 

With a nickname like fancyMelissa, it is hard to believe that she's never been to Paris.  But she did spend 5 years drinking wine and falling in love in San Francisco, and counts it and Charleston as her favorite cities.

Melissa looks forward to teaching her "Sweet Scrapbook Workshop" -- a scrapbooking class using the cutest CTMH paper kit I've ever seen!

Ooh La La!

Liven up your creative space and remember your "Summer in Paris" with a vintage-inspired Parisian banner.  Students will decorate seven chipboard pennants with a gorgeous Cavallini & Co. Parisian linen map and spell out "PARIS" in decorated chipboard letters.  The soft blue, soft pink, ivory & black banner colors are soothing and will look wonderful in your home!  Students will learn to make crepe paper rosettes and crepe paper fringe for that wonderful vintage feel.  We'll embellish with pages torn from old French books, tulle, ribbon, stamps, buttons, punches and die cuts.  Once you've decorated your banner, you'll want to step up to Korie's "glitter bar" to make everything oh-so-shiny!

Students must bring:  Scissors, plenty of glue sticks, plenty of rolling tape adhesive (or double sided tape), glue dots, foam tape, black dye (not pigment or Staz-On) ink, a paper piercer or awl, and Diamond Glaze or Ranger Glossy Accents.

Students may want to bring:  A Crop-A-Dile.

Please note that 3 hours may not be enough time to finish this project.  I'd rather you have fun, learn the techniques and work at your own pace than be frantic and stressed.  You'll learn everything you need to know and have a complete kit to finish your project at home (or in your crop space later that day).

Enjoy a social afternoon making this beautiful Tea Time Book and enjoying a tea party with snacks and conversation in a charming, relaxed atmosphere.  What a great way to start a tradition with your girlfriends and family!

Beth will guide you through the creation and embellishment of this one-of-a-kind Tea Book.  The finished product will allow you to capture your memories of those special afternoon teas with friends and family through scrapbooking and journaling.  We will stamp pages and images for future use in your book, cover pocket pages, dabble in a little water coloring, and use some of the beautiful Glimmer Mists.  The pocket in the back of the book can be used to hold special tea items or brochures.

Your class kit comes with plenty of embellishments (rub-ons, stickers, die cuts, alphabets, coordinating papers, ribbons, eyelets, brads, etc.) to continue adding to your book as you add pictures. 

After the book construction is complete and some of your pages are decorated, Beth will serve a fine three-course meal with tea!  Your afternoon tea starts with hot tea, followed by scones, clotted cream and jam.  The second course includes tea sandwiches -- chicken salad (Note by Korie B.:  I've had Beth's chicken salad & it is to die for!) and cucumber/cream cheese.  Your third and final course will include a smorgasbord of delicious desserts. 

Each tea guest will leave with several tea party favors -- this class is a fabulous value!

While you're having fun enjoying conversation and tea, Beth will take pictures and load them to MPIX.com for you to order when you return home (and start your first pages in your new tea book!).

This is a fun class for all levels.  If you take Maripat & Louise's "Tiara de l'ete Jardin" class, be sure to don your new chapeau during the tea!

Students must bring:  Adhesive, glue stick and scissors.  

Beth will provide all other supplies.

Join Cami for this fun-filled class where you'll learn lots of amazing techniques which will produce this delicious & fat 4" x 4" canvas journal.  You will love it so mach that you'll never, ever give it away!  We'll have lots of fun with alcohol inks, rubber stamps, beeswax, and more!  In addition to the Mona Lisa image, students will have other options to choose from.  Students are encourage to be creative, get wild and do their own thing!  Please note that the knob may differ slightly from the photo (but will be just as cool, I promise!).

Students must bring:  Pencil, ruler, bone folder, awl, favorite rubber stamps, black dye-based ink pad (not pigment ink or Staz-On), a few colored dye ink pads, cheap paint brushes (1/2 inch to 1 inch in size), non-stick craft sheet, Ink blending tool, double sided adhesive and craft knife with a sharp blade.  It is recommended that students bring an apron or smock.

Students may want to bring:  Book cradle, Crop-a-Dile, your own favorite collage elements or ephemera, and an apron or smock.

All other supplies will be provided by instructor.
